About the artist

I studied painting in my twenties—at Middlebury College, and then at the New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture. But not long after that, struggling to paint while working full time, I all but abandoned the pursuit.

Some 25 years later, I finally started painting again. I found a small, weekly oil painting class with Joan Engelmeyer, and something shifted for me. Having a weekly appointment to paint and a community to share with made all the difference. That class turned into a close-knit group of art-making friends, who now share a studio. We continue to meet weekly to paint together, talk about art, and support each other.

My current work focuses on observing the everyday beauty around me: billowing clouds, reflections on water, patterns of shade and sunlight, the friendly forms of shipping cranes in Elliott Bay, or the spectacular views that reveal themselves on a neighborhood walk.
